Through the seven months of the course, students were encouraged to prepare for tests by:
- completing all of the course material in their duotang (in class with the teacher)
- completing the Chapter Review material in their duotang (in class, using the textbook, on their own)
- using Quizlet to prepare for tests (in class and at home)
- using the Study Guide (provided via email and on the teacher blog) to prepare for the material being covered on the test (at home)
During the test, students were allowed to use their duotang to reference any of the material that was there. Therefore, it was considered an "Open Book" test.
- even though the tests were "Open Book"--some students were not successful, because they didn't complete all FOUR of the above steps to PREPARE for the "Open Book" tests
For the Chapter 9 test in April, students will no longer be
allowed to use their duotangs during the test.
No more "Open Book" tests.
Students will need to complete the FOUR STEPS ABOVE to prepare for their tests and work from their memory during the test.
This is the final step in preparing students for Grade 8, which is only three months away.
